Dr. Chris VandeLune, DO
Dr. Chris VandeLune is a board certified Family Medicine Physician. He completed his undergraduate studies at Drake University and is a 2001 graduate of Des Moines University Medical School. He attended Via Christi Family Practice Residency Program in Wichita, KS which is a full spectrum family practice residency which allowed him to become certified in C-Sections and endoscopy procedures and numerous other procedures. Dr. VandeLune has practiced in Cherokee, IA since 2004 and has enjoyed his patients and the community. He was honored in 2016 as the state of Iowa’s Family Physician of the Year.
Dr. VandeLune and his wife, Lisa, have 7 children. Christian, 25, is in his 2nd year of medical school at the University of Iowa. Taylor, 24, is a 2018 graduate of La’James College of Cosmetology and is working in Gainseville, FL. Joel, 23, is a graduate of the University of Iowa and is working in research and applying to medical schools. Emma, 20, is a sophomore at the University of Iowa and is majoring in Human Physiology with a minor in ASL (American Sign Language) on the Pre-Med track. Malorie and Maggie are 19, and are freshman at DMACC in Ankeny. Malorie is majoring in business administration and Maggie is majoring in criminal justice. Abbigayle is 18 years old and a senior at Washington High School. She plans to attend the University of Iowa on the pre dental track. Lisa is an RN and is enjoying being back to work after taking time off to raise their family. Dr. VandeLune takes great pride in his family, and they are his inspiration to create a family centered environment at his new clinic.

Dr. Chris VandeLune was named the 2016-17 Iowa Family Physician of the Year by the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP).
The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians honors outstanding family physicians and educators by presenting Annual Membership Awards. The Family Physician of the Year Award is presented to a family physician that was nominated by a patient and exemplifies what it means to be not only a great family physician but an active participant in their community.
Meet Your Nurse Practitioner
Sam Carpenter, ARNP
Sam Carpenter is a compassionate and highly skilled nurse with specialized experience in critical care, emergency medicine, and critical care transport, including flight nursing. With a strong foundation in high-acuity settings, she brings steady expertise and a calm, caring presence to every patient interaction.
Sam began her nursing journey at Southwestern Community College, where she earned her RN, then continued her education with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Clarkson College. She later earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Briar Cliff University, graduating with academic honors. She is also a Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) and has been recognized as a DAISY Award nominee for her dedication to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care.
What brings Sam the most fulfillment in her work is forming meaningful, long-term relationships—not only with her patients, but with their families as well. She is deeply honored to care for patients through all stages of life and looks forward to watching them grow and thrive.
Outside of nursing, Sam is a proud wife and mother. She and her husband, who serves as the town’s fire chief, are raising their children in the same community they both hold close to their hearts. Known for her warmth, integrity, and commitment to the well-being of others, Sam is grateful every day for the opportunity to serve the place she calls home. "

INSURANCES WE ACCEPT
This is a representative list and certainly not all inclusive so please call if you don’t see your insurance carrier listed. We participate in many more than those listed. We continue to work on credentialing to participate in all insurance programs.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you bring your insurance card with you for each office visit. Please contact your insurance company to inquire about your financial responsibility and benefits. Co-payments, deductibles, and percentages will be collected before each appointment at the time the service is given.
COPAYS ARE DUE AT THE TIME OF VISIT. It is our new policy, to be seen, you must pay your copay. IF YOU HAVE A HIGH DEDUCTIBLE PLAN, a $50 down payment will be required at the time of visit, and the remainder due will be billed to you.
